Miranda purchased all three of his locations from a previous franchise owner, starting three years ago at the height of COVID-19. Originally an owner of his own marketing agency, Miranda was introduced to Uni K Wax as a customer. After falling in love with the brand, it seemed like a no-brainer to look into Uni K Wax’s franchise opportunity when he was researching potential investments.
“The product is amazing. The service is great,” said Miranda. “When I was looking for an investment, I really liked how technology was integrated into the model. Even before COVID, you could do contactless check-in and check-out. You check in with your phone number at the kiosk, and then when you check out, you can pay on an iPad. I really like how it’s a frictionless customer experience.”
From inception, Uni K Wax has always emphasized the need to provide a clean and hygienic experience for all customers. All locations have a wax lab, where the brand’s proprietary wax blend is prepared fresh for each appointment. This, in addition to an established contactless check-in system, made Uni K Wax studios well equipped the weather the COVID-19 storm.
“If you follow the methodology, you will see returns,” said Miranda. “I really like seeing our waxers grow. Most of our team works on commission, so watching them grow over the years is rewarding. Your waxers are your business partners. If they’re increasing their numbers and revenue, it’s because the business is growing. If one grows, the other does, too.”
An avid Florida Gators fan, jogging enthusiast, and owner of other beauty business concepts, Miranda appreciates the quality of the Uni K Wax product and the ease of studio management. What appealed most to him most was the simplicity of the business model. “With Uni K Wax, you don’t have too many moving parts,” said Miranda. “You only have one supplier. And your team isn’t that large. It’s easier to manage eight employees versus 16.”
